Sooo,

Now the background and the main character is a different color. Space bar also starts game, not just the start button. And squares look shiny gold now.

Yet, there isn't a powerup menu yet and a high score system. Also my wife suggested adding different sized squares as a difficulty option. 

I also got to play with shaders and the outline around the player is a shader that I took from Godot Shaders website. Background color is a shader too!
